Tower Crane #3 Approved At Waldorf Astoria

Aug 14, 2023

The Federal Aviation Administration issued height approval this morning for one of the construction cranes that will help build Miami’s 100-story Waldorf Astoria supertall tower.

Tower crane #3 is approved at a height of 365 feet above ground level, or 376 feet above sea level, according to a letter sent to Moriarty Construction today.

Two other tower cranes are planned to rise 1255 above ground level, or 1266 feet above sea level, according to separate FAA filings.

The FAA filings were made on May 31.

A work schedule for the cranes is estimated to run from October 24, 2023 to August 23, 2027, the filings state.

In 2021, the FAA approved a permanent height for the Waldorf Astoria of 1038 feet above ground, or 1049 feet above sea level.

Construction at the site is already underway. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in October 2022.

The only currently real supertower project.

Pinch me to be sure I’m not dreaming . Miamis super tall is finally underway .

Need to demolish that Holiday Inn already

I’d rather see it gone over YVE, which is a prewar building with historic restoration potential.

Both are disgusting and both should be demolished asap.

That park west skyline is going to be epicccc

This isn’t close to Park West but ok.

Lol

It’s directly in your view corridor while relaxing in museum park

Lol Ok. So is Opera Tower. Does that make Opera Tower park of Park West?

Ok, so youre intelligent. We get it..

This is in the Bayside part of Downtown. Park west is only one stop downtown, not here.

“Epicccc?” Is that the name of another announced Airbnb-…I mean apartment building?

There is still no such thing as an “AirB&B building”

They been hardening the soil on this tower for months!! its time to go vertical!

This site is tight and the onsite construction will look insane with 3 tower cranes. They have a very qualified general contractor so it will go as smooth as possible,

The cranes are approved over 200′ higher than the building. This is common on some large and wide buildings, but for one like this it’s a lot of extra clearance. Tower cranes at 1255′ high could build at least an 1,150 ft building, a hundred feet or more higher than this one.

But it’s temporary.. few yrs that’s it
